Chef Yu's restaurant experience started in the 1980's in the heart of Washington DC. His restaurant was called "Blue Diamond Chinese Gourmet" restaurant. Chef Yu operated this restaurant for more than 20 years. Chef Yu's dishes were very popular in the DC area and were featured in the local Washington Blade on August 20, 2004. The article currently displays at the entrance of Full Kee Restaurant today. Everything changed for Chef Yu, as it did for the rest of the nation, on September 11, 2001. After that fateful day, Chef Yu's restaurant lost nearly 90% of his business. Yu attempted to hold onto the business for another two years, but was not able to recover. After searching the coast to relocate, Chef Yu and his wife Sherry decided to move to High Point, NC after a local restaurant space was advertised for sale in an Asian magazine. On July 10, 2006, Full Kee Restaurant opened their doors to the Piedmont Triad Area and Chef Yu's masterpieces started a new chapter in the state of North Carolina. Full Kee Restaurant is independently owned and operated by the Chef George Yu and his wife Sherry. Established in 2006 (and later remodeled in 2008), we serve the Piedmont Triad area. Our restaurant serves a variety of authentic Chinese cuisine. Chef Yu's dishes have been renowned by former United States Presidents, Senators and House of Representatives in the Washington DC area.
